Silly me. It took me over 40 years to come to the realisation .. wasted all that time when I could have learned the same lesson in a one hour episode on TV!
Desperate Housewives - this evenings' close (not verbatim) - you can never know who it's safe to trust, so it's simplest to only trust yourself.
Spoke volumes to me - because that's where I am right now; trusting only myself.
There was another relevant line too - 'trust once broken is gone forever' ... Whilst it *might* be possible for *some* level of trust to be regained, I don't believe it would ever return to previous levels (and if you allow it to then you only have yourself to blame when history repeats, as it surely, and always, does).
