I've Been Busy..

The time off is almost over.

I got a fair bit of gardening done whilst the weather was fine.

When the weather turned sour I had a busy Tuesday - movies/Centrelink/Mums' birthday (she loved the helicopter ride gift voucher!) etc.

I can see the top of my desk and somewhat more of my kitchen bench than a week ago.

On Wednesday I resumed playing with the following:

And ended up (after mucho hours) with this (almost finished, but not quite):

Thanks :) I've posted some clearer pics in a more recent post ... but pics just don't do it justice.

i looked at the more recent pix...if it looks better than it shows, wow!

will the purple be a similar style?
is it for an SCA event?

Yeah, it is pretty wow! IRL (can you tell I'm really pleased with how it turned out> *g*)

I only have that pattern and am a bit undecided what to do with the purple panne velvet. I don't really want to make it the same - partly for Mistyqee's sake (who wants to be seen in the same dress as their mother when your 16 years old!), so I guess it's back to hunting down another suitable pattern.

OK, I have to ask - what is an SCA event?

I made it because we both love this style of dress and they're so darn expensive to buy. No idea where she'll wear it - probably family do's, and she swears she will even just wear it around the house - these dresses make you feel wonderful!

SCA is the Society for Creative Anacronism is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating pre-17th-century European history. In the US it can also include civil war and earlier history. They often have events where they recreate moments in history.

I look forward to seeing the purple dress :)
