Damn Lawyers

When I spoke to a 'substitute' lawyer ('cos mine had gone to hospital and therefore my appointment was cancelled) in the middle of December some of my questions were answered, but others remained; I asked them to make an appointment with my lawyer for this week.

I got a phone call yesterday - he is fully booked this week and can I come next week?
I explained that next week I will be back at work - she says they can fit me in on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I'm supposed to ask for time off in the first week back at work?? I don't think so!!

I am supposed to be having an RDO on Thursday, but he is fully booked next Thursday. AAARRGGGHHH!!!!!!!

I'll ring them back today and make an appointment for Wednesday and ask the boss on Monday if I can change my RDO to Wed.

I'm really peeved about this - they've known for a month I wanted an appointment this week! Grrrrr

In Other News
Garden
I managed to get the leucospernum pruned. Fingers crossed that I haven't killed the poor thing this time. One/two years ago I pruned it for the first time ever, so only did a fairly light prune, but the shrub is too big and really needs to be brought back to managable size, so I was more ruthless this time.

Only time will tell.

Bonus: I'm trying to get about a dozen of the offcuts to grow - hope they do, then I can chop the existing one out entirely and replace it.

Ball Dress Shopping
I took Mistyqee into the city today to look for a ball dress. Although we didn't find anything suitable we realised half way through that we should have added bridal shops to our list - something for next time.

Was good all the same, as she got to see that the city shops don't really have anything we don't have out in the suburbs other than ridiculous prices!

My Bathroom=Swimming Pool or Cleaning and Gardening Combine
I'd been lamenting for a while now about the state of my bathroom. The walls are meant to be white but they've been very yellow-looking, and there was a fair amount of mould starting to grow on the cornice and parts of the ceiling (I had my bathroom remodelled about 7-8 years ago).

My house is old (they way I like them) and has very high ceilings. Repainting myself wasn't really an option.

I'd been pondering how to get bleach up to the ceiling (as the standard spray bottles it comes in have no hope of reaching), and had a brainwave - use the garden sprayer!!

So I bought 5 litres of bleach (cost me a whole $3.04 - just a generic brand would do me), emptied the entire bathroom and sprayed the whole damn lot with undiluted bleach. About 10 minutes later I repeated the process with water to wash it down.

Worked a treat! I have white walls and ceiling again and NO MOULD - it killed the lot. I was very pleased that it didn't bleach the dark bench top, nor the black grout on the floor (I had been a bit concerned about that happening).

But I now have two problems:

1. I had closed the door but the bleach dripped down onto the outside of the door. Whilst I tried to rectify this at the time I'm left with white drip marks down the outside of the door. I can fix this, just go buy more of the bleach and do the outside of the door.

2. My bathroom still smells like a swimming pool! This is now 3 days later. I've been burning scented candles in there, but it still smells like a swimming pool. Methinks I didn't splash enough water around :(

Without emptying the entire bathroom again and repeating the water process does anyone have any ideas how to get rid of/reduce this smell?? Please??

Training
Started training myself for the return to work. I'm going to bed at a more reasonable hour and getting up earlier. Not long now :(

I've been trying to think of what I want to get done before I go back to work - and I can't think of anything! (other than see the lawyer, which I can't do). Sad comment I guess on my lack of hobbies and aims/life goals. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Don't forget - how do I get rid of the bleach smell in the bathroom???

any other chemicals could create unwanted chemical reactions....i would try lots and lots of air....turn a fan on and move the air around and out.

I would try opening the window and running a fan through there all day.

Thanks folks, that's what I had been doing. The smell is receeding thankfully.

My sister, Shannon, wrote Spotless which covers removing stains, etc. using natural alternatives.

No this isn't just a shameless plug ;-) I will see if I can catch up with her in between book signings regarding the smell for next time :-)

Thanks Trent, I'll probably have to do it again in a few years (hopefully no sooner!)
