Pooped

Ball dress staps adjusted satisfactorily last night.

Up until 2.00am playing old computer game (Starcraft) over the LAN with/against my son last night (good thing he has a semi-geek for a mum otherwise we wouldn't have gotten to play at all).

Eyebrow waxing completed, and made an appointment for a manicure straight after the 'hair up' on Friday.

Grocery shopping done.

6 hours of pruning and tramping the prunings to the front verge today.

Person coming tomorrow to dig out agapanthus and I - if I have the energy - might dig out some cannas for her.

I'm pooped.

Helloooo

Feels like ages since I posted, but it isn't.

Been busy making a new blog so you don't have to be bored with updates on the legal stuff.

Why on a different blog? It's hard enough to keep the three I already have updated on any kind of regular basis (the old garden journal is lagging very badly).

Mostly for anonimity. There's things I want to write about but, because it is a legal matter, it's best not to be written here where the other party/friends of the other party may see it.

In Other News ..
The boss is back Monday. I'm pleased about it, but really nothing that bad has happened this time (touches wood). No equipment has blown up, no-one has made a claim against us and none of the employees have been injured.
So really it's been heaps better than last time!

Ball Preps
Ball preparations commence this Saturday with the eyebrow wax! Tonight we confirmed the beautician appointment and the hair appointment for Friday next week (day of the ball - 5th May). I have yet to adjust the straps on the dress - that's tomorrow nights job as my mum isn't coming over (has other plans).

Garden
I'm giving some plants away for free :) Someone is coming to dig out one patch of agapanthus and I'll probably dig out some cannas for her - they're crowding the mango tree.

Probably a big gardening weekend coming up as we have council green waste collection in just over a week. That means lots of pruning to be done. Pleased with myself that I got the chain back onto the chainsaw on Tuesday and tensioned properly. Took me two hours to remember the one small thing that actually allows you to tension the chain once you've managed to get it on and the machine all back together!

Enough for now. Keep well.

Anzac Day Tomorrow

Lest We Forget ...

I still didn't think of anything amazing to add/do with my anzacs page, but at least I have added the navigation sidebar to it.

This at least means that folk who end up on that page via a search will be able to see the other parts of the website (I'm thinking particularly the Family History part of it) and contact me.

I only realised two days ago that if they end up on that page directly that, unless they think to truncate the URL a bit, they have no way of contacting me or knowing who I am.

It's not as much as I wanted to do, but I guess it's something.

More Progress

What To Do ...

Anzac Day is coming up - next Tuesday (25th April). I feel that I'd like to do something to honour my familys' contribution to the war, but have no idea what to do.

Last year I added an 'Anzacs' page to my website.

I've been thinking of going up to Kings Park to take daytime pics of the trees that have dedication plaques for two of my ancestors. But it will be hell busy up there on Tuesday (it's a Public Holiday - ie no work) as it's where the main Anzac memorial is held each year, and there's a parade through town so getting there will be yuk.

I am thinking of attending my local community Anzac memorial. My ancestors weren't from this area but that doesn't matter to me. I haven't been to an Anzac memorial since I was in highschool (and often had to play in the band for the parade - not a marching band, just your usual sit-down kind). I just kinda feel like going.

Don't know what to do, want to do something on the website, but what?

My Bad..

My bad .. the 'black parrots' I wrote of, should have been black cockatoos. Anyway, it wasn't then either!

The next morning when I awoke I could hear the bird noises still. Manages to catch a glimpse of one and it was a pink and grey galah!

Methinks this bird is where one of our Aussie slang terms comes from. If somone is acting the fool they might find themselves being called a 'galah'.

You only have to watch these birds mucking around for a short time to see why. It can be very humourous as they hand by one leg and just generally can make themselves look very foolish.

Thus endeth the lesson on Aussie slang!

Something Weird

Something weird is going on tonight.

For the last hour and a half (it's now 10pm) there has been a flock of black parrots flying around squawking their heads off.

It's forecast to rain tonight, and black parrots are meant to be a sign of rain, so that's not so unusual, but I can't recall ever hearing them at night before.

It's kinda weird and eerie.

Probably TMI !!!!

Warning - female physiology discussed below ... click away now if you want to avoid it!

I'm experiencing my first 'that time of the month' in about seven years. Whilst it's not treating me terribly (as it does some) I remember now why I decided to stick with a contraception option that ceased this from happenning about three years ago even though I had stopped enjoying adult exercise.

Ugghh. And No. It does not make me feel more feminine/womanly, satisfied/content to know I'm still fertile/capable in that area.

The One That Didn't Get Away

Here's that mango - it *was* yum!

Buggered!

(note this is Oz slang for very tired!)

6 hours in the garden yesterday, 5 hours in the garden today. Pics and more info will be posted on my gardening blog later this evening.

'Nuff said.

Hope you all had a great Easter.

Mango!

Picked the first ripe mango yesterday.
Well I didn't really pick it as it had falled on the ground.
Today I discovered 4 of the 9 mangoes on the tree have disappeared - fruit thieves :(

I don't mind if they pick fruit that is hanging over the fence, but none of these four fruit were on the other side of the fence, and one in particular would have required the person to be in my yard grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Almost enough to make me put a sign on the fence warning that the tree has been sprayed with some horrible chemical :(

My son and I will be eating mango tomorrow, I wonder who else is.

Lunch

...was seriously good! In fact it was so good it went til about 10.30pm!

I was also very relieved to hear on Monday that the terrible news the friend had broken to me on the phone on Saturday turned out not to be the case; though I am yet to follow up with him to find out exactly what the results were - it has been enough to know that it was not cancer.

General Catch Up Stuff...
The week has been very hectic. I'm 'it' at work next week as the boss is going overseas for two weeks. Please send good thoughts my way, I really don't want bad stuff to happen whilst he is away this time.

Some sewing has been done on a dress for me, and cutting out of a black cloak which is my daughters' fancy. As it's school holidays now I'm hoping to encourage her to use some of her time in to do some of the sewing herself. Mind you she has oodles of art homework to do during her break. No holidays for this little black duck due to the boss' trip.

Glad I'm Not Paying a Lawyer..
at the moment .... rang the court regarding progress of the legal matter, to find that it wasn't progressing - papers had been lost in transit and no-one had realised. Things are moving again now; that's good and that's bad/hard (emotionally).

Had some frustrating time getting that sorted - it's seems so wrong to me that me, a layperson, seems to know more about the law at times than those who work in the field.

4 Day Break
I'm so looking forward to 4 days off work this weekend, even if it's only going to be three days cos I'm going into the office tomorrow - at least I can wear casual gear and it will only be for a couple of hours.

Me
In so many ways I feel I am progressing well at this point (if you don't know what from then you haven't read the blog long enough! - joking), but there are definately areas in which I sometimes feel I haven't progressed very far at all. But then that may be due to the issues that remain hanging in limbo currently - and that's what the legal stuff is about.

I need resolution, one way or another; can't live in limbo land. Don't like what I'm having to do, but don't seem to have another option.

Hope you have a good one.

I'm doing something today that I haven't done in a long time - I'm cooking lunch for a friend.

It's very standard, easy fare:
Entre - Rockmelon & prosciutto
Main - Fettucini with chilli prawns served with italian garlic bread
Dessert - Lemon Sorbet (close as I could buy to granita) with mango puree

I was surprised to find myself quite enjoying the preparations, checking off in my head what I needed and buying the required ingredients.

I'm a lazy cook; the only thing of the above I'm making from scratch is the chilli sauce. The mangoes on the tree aren't ripe so the puree is coming from a bottle.

We used to do lunch at my place quite frequently, but circumstances changed and it was no longer possible.

The friend broke some terrible news to me over the phone yesterday, so I'm not sure how the lunch conversation will go, but we'll eat well!

Yeah - I'm Still Alive

Going Where the Tide Takes Me
I'm just kinda letting life take me where it will at the moment - which is nowhere in particular of course.

Fayre
Went to the Fayre and a goodly time had by me and my daughter. Strange not to feel out of place in our dresses.

Surprised to still get comments on how lovely our dresses were/are considering the number of lovely dresses present on the day. And some that were authentic (ours don't even attempt to be authentic, we just like them!)

For Chris - we have an SCA in our city! Well, I'm not sure how the heirarchy goes, there is one for Australia overall and there are two sub-branches (county or barony I think they're called) in our city.

I toyed with the idea of joining for a day or two, but they're waaayyy to serious about this stuff for this little black duck.

Ball
Thanks to the Fayre there was no time for ball shopping (I'm privately pleased about that!). It's just over a month away now, so no need to panic, but will have to concentrate more on getting things organised (eyebrow pluck appointment, hair appointment, and find a bag)

Legal
Still nothing :( Time to write another letter and probably have to waste another precious day off dealing with it :(

Mum
Procedure went fine but she still has some nagging symptoms that she had before the procedure and thought they would have gone. Told to wait 10 days and see how it goes.

Computers
Driving me nuts, not playing nicely. Been exporting/importing data and it's been fraught with hiccoughs and having to do research on the web at home, at night cos I don't have enough time at work to do that. Got very close to completing the mission yesterday, but a further hiccough has developed.

Photoshop
Still haven't done anything exciting with it :(

Garden
Have been doing a little gardening - see my new garden journal.

Life
Life is just pulling me along at the moment, I have no desire to move in any one direction, so I just go where I get pulled.

I don't know that it's a good thing, and the effect is quite likely worsened by the fact that I have no goals or aims or desires - so it's not likely to change for a while.

No person on the sidelines looking to come in, and I'm not looking to the sidelines to find anyone either. There was one, but I ensured they didn't hold on to any false hopes.

I wonder when the day will come that I yearn to have a partner again; I'm sure that day will come, don't know what will/might trigger it.

I'm still reading your blogs, just been rather quiet lately.

Bye
